So, I got a few days left before the end of my BIG vacation, TWO WEEKS!! at home. It's awesome!!
I figured I'd catch up with some prospected that I needed to do for the Print4Pay Hotel. Always need advertisers so I can one day quit my day job and do this full time, and if I could we would have something spectacular!!
Anyway a good source of potential customers for me is to go the ITEX show page and see who will be exhibiting at the ITEX show, this year its back in Vegas baby!! @ The Mirage....
So, I figured it's about 4:30 pm (they are on the west coast) and I'd call Seine Technology, they are the USA branch of Zhuhai Seine Manufacturing in the Peoples Republic of China link
A couple of years ago, I made the mistake of calling some Chinese Manufacturers, but what the heck I figured Seine is pretty big, been getting a lot of press lately and it would be a good call for me.
As always in my best cold calling voice I made the call, and I was surprised to hear the receptionist answer with heavy Chinese accent. I stated "Hello this is Art and I'm calling from the Print4Pay Hotel, could you possibly direct me to your marketing manager? The receptionist answered "Who you want?", and I said "your marketing manager", the reply "why you want that?” I thought to myself, this is going to be a ****show.. She then stated what is the plint fol pay hoterr? I then explained that I'm a writer and have been following their company and wanted to get in contact with the marketing manager. With that I was transferred and thought, ok got my message across within a few seconds a women answered the call with another heavy Chinese accent. I went through a short sentence and from what I gathered she wanted me to send an email (rotten &^%$), but at this point I was happy to end the call because I could not understand her. I then asked her for the email address, she said WO,RA,SHS,T,Wa, yeah right... I said did you say WU, no she stated WAH, ok was that A, no WAH! And to make this short I tried three times to get the email address and none of it made sense, with that I thanked them and went on my way.
I felt like I was in the Chinese Restaurant from “A Christmas Story ". I'm not a racist by any means and I give credit to anyone who can talk two languages, however if you're going to do business here in the US, get some people who can be understood when you have them on the phone. I got off the phone wondering if they do this to all of the sales people!!!!
