Industry Professionals Agree Digital Color is the Future of Printing, According to Survey
Nearly Half of Those Polled Believe Xerox Offers the Most Impressive Printing Technologies at Show
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 7, 2001--A Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX - news) survey conducted from the show floor on the opening day of Print 01, this year's biggest graphic arts and printing tradeshow, found that the majority of printing professionals believe digital color printing will be a key to a print shop's success in the future.

When asked which printing technology represented the greatest opportunity for growth in the next 10 years, 57 percent answered digital color, with 25 percent indicating variable data printing.

Xerox is surveying the commercial and quick printers, graphic arts service providers and others attending the show to better understand and validate customer trends about printing industry issues. Other results from yesterday's survey include:

- Seventy-five percent believe that print shops are experiencing a

shortage of skilled employees.

- Forty-five percent identified Xerox's printing technology as the

most impressive at the show. The vendor in the No. 2 position was

selected by only 23 percent of respondents.

Print 01 attendees also expressed strong opinions regarding the state of the printing industry, with 43 percent agreeing that the most dramatic change in the printing industry during the past 10 years has been the influx of new technology. Forty-five percent thought this change was increased competition, while less than 10 percent said the biggest change has been decreased competition.
