Xerox’s newest press, the Xerox Rialto 900 Inkjet, will “make inkjet technology a reality for more printers by breaking down barriers such as high print volumes, large footprint and cost.” Characterized as “the world’s only fully-integrated roll-to-cut sheet narrow-web inkjet press,” the Rialto 900 is designed to produce 1.5 million to 5 million impressions per month. It has the smallest footprint of any inkjet press on the market – 11.9 feet x 5.1 feet including the press tower – making it a cost-effective option for various production environments. To help lower entry into production inkjet technology, it can print one-up duplex jobs on the smallest narrow web (9.84 inches) on the market.
“We’re creating a new, disruptive inkjet market segment with the Rialto 900 and there’s room for everyone,” said Paul Morgavi, CEO, Inkjet Division, Xerox, and GM of Impika. “The Rialto 900 changes the playing field by merging the cut sheet, inkjet and offset worlds – an important convergence for providers looking for a competitive edge and for print’s long-term survival.” The Rialto 900 is the first product jointly developed and launched by Xerox and Impika.
The device offers the speed and image quality required for full-colour, personalized direct-mail, statements and book production. Its front-end controller, paper roll and finishing components are housed within the machine – a space saving and service convenience. A range of workflows – including XMPie, PersonalEffect, StoreFlow, Xerox FreeFlow Core and VI Suite, as well as solutions from GMC and Solimar – can drive the press at rated speed for maximum productivity.
Additional features include 1000 x 1000-dpi perceived resolution for high-quality output, automated and integrated missing jet detection and duplexing, media flexibility with Xerox’s water-based pigment HD ink, choice of a PDF or IPDS digital front end, integrated cutter and stacker, and large touchscreen display for easy access to media selection, imposition, DFE status and job history. The Press is scheduled to be available in Canada on June 1.
