Based on Xerox's communications and marketing services, the new platform will provide the more than 65m Medco members the ability to personalize their prescription drug management information and communication delivery channels.
"Adding Xerox's customer communication solutions to help improve the way we deliver information to our members expands our seven-year business relationship beyond back-end cost efficiencies and simplifying how and where we print and process documents," Medco president and COO Kenneth Klepper, said in a statement.
The new five-year agreement, extends Medco's current relationship with the Norwalk, CT-based Xerox. Medco noted it had already cut its costs for printing, updating and sharing documents, by 25%, thanks to Xerox managed print services as well as accelerating claims processing from Xerox subsidiary ACS, the companies said.
Medco Health Solutions is a leading pharmacy benefit manager and boasts the largest mail-order pharmacy operation in the US. It has more than 24,000 employees worldwide and reported 2010 revenues for US$66bn.
