Bytes Document Solutions (BDS), Xerox's authorised distributor in sub-Saharan Africa, has announced the release of the Xerox ConnectKey app, known as ‘Call Me Back'. The ‘Call Me Back' app is the latest addition to the Xerox App gallery, which is available on all Xerox i-Series devices. ConnectKey apps deliver additional enhancements for Xerox multifunction printers (MFPs) and are designed to reduce costs, increase productivity and improve efficiencies.

According to Shane Spies, marketing product manager for Xerox Office Products at Bytes Document Solutions, the app is designed to enable users to request a call back from their service provider or help desk, in the event of a challenge arising with their MFP.

"It allows users to do this by simply selecting the Call Me Back app on the device's user interface. They then enter their number or extension, and the request is sent to the predefined support e-mail address," he says.

"The help desk or service provider will then receive a message containing the contact details of the user, as well as all device information, such as serial number and device name, along with a report on the status of the printer's consumables and any device faults."

"The Call Me Back app is ideal for both managed and non-managed fleets and means that support staff or vendors have the opportunity to avoid additional calls for parts that are near replacement level, as a single call will cover both consumables and faults at once," he adds.

ConnectKey Apps have been designed to extend the capabilities of MFPs built on Xerox ConnectKey technology and help companies make the most of their hardware investment. What sets them apart, however, is that unlike traditional software, they require no dedicated server, PC or IT resource. ConnectKey Apps are lightweight, server-less solutions that can be downloaded to ConnectKey-enabled MFPs via USB or CentreWare Internet Services.

"Apps like Call Me Back extend the benefits of MFPs by helping clients to maximise their investment. Thanks to these simple applications, businesses can make everyday tasks even easier," concludes Spies.
