WorkCentre Pro 421 Efficiently Configured, Competitively Priced

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 2002--Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX - News) today introduced its latest entry-level digital multifunction device, the WorkCentre Pro 421, which comes with features that competitors charge extra for -- or don't have at all.
This 20 pages-per-minute system is the 12th Xerox entry-level digital multifunction offering for small-offices and workgroups who need equipment that's both affordable and capable of handling high copy and print volumes.

According to IDC, a market research firm in Framingham, Mass., multifunction products are one of the fastest-growing office market segments, forecast to increase at a rate of 15 percent per year until 2006. Keith Kmetz, program director at IDC, says, "By continuing to evolve its multifunction product line with the introduction of the WorkCentre Pro 421, Xerox is meeting the demands of the smaller office or workgroup."

Available in two different configurations, the WorkCentre Pro 421 is designed to help offices reduce costs by allowing them to replace several personal devices with one shared multifunction print and copy system. Unlike competitive machines in its class, the WorkCentre Pro 421DEi configuration offers duplex copying and offset stacking as standard features, in addition to direct-connect laser printing from a PC. The WorkCentre Pro 421Pi configuration builds upon the 421DEi by adding 1200 dpi- network printing as a standard feature. Both PCL 6 and PostScript print languages are included in the base price of the 421Pi unit.

"What counts in today's cost-conscious offices is getting the best return on your investment," said Gil Hatch, president, Xerox Office Systems Group. "Xerox offers the largest multifunction product line, and with the addition of the WorkCentre Pro 421 we are giving small-office customers what they are looking for -- productivity at an affordable price."

The WorkCentre Pro 421's standard features include two-sided printing and copying, 100-sheet automatic document feeder with an offset catch tray, two 550-sheet paper trays, and a bypass tray with a stand. It has a paper capacity of 1,200 sheets.

In addition, Xerox has recently added the FaxCentre F12 to its full line of multifunction products. This system combines advanced faxing capabilities with 1200 dpi resolution, two-sided printing, 12 ppm copying, and color scanning.

The WorkCentre Pro 421 has a U.S. list price of $5,495 for the 421DEi and $6,995 for the 421Pi. Both configurations are immediately available in the U.S. and Canada through Xerox authorized dealers and Xerox Omnifax. It will be available through Xerox direct sales representatives and agent channels in January 2003.
