Interesting I out this into Bing/ChatGPT and it did not give me what I was looking for

Yes, you can scan documents to the hard drive of your Ricoh MFP. To do this, you need to follow the below steps:

  1. Insert your USB drive into the USB slot on the right side of the operation panel.
  2. Select Scanner from the Home screen or press the Scanner hard key.
  3. Select Send Settings, in the lower right corner of the screen.
  4. Scroll down until you get to page 4 out of 5, then select Store File.
  5. Select Store to Memory Device.
  6. Select OK.

Alternatively, you can also scan documents to a shared folder on your computer and then save them to the hard drive of your Ricoh MFP. To do this, you need to create a shared folder on your computer and register the destination folder in the address book. You can use “Ricoh’s Scan to Folder Configuration Tool” to set up these settings easily. Please refer to 1 for detailed instructions.

There are actually two ways to store scanned images on the Ricoh HDD.

1.  Document Server.  Press the Doc Server button, add a folder if you wish, or scan to the "Shared" folder.  Press the "To Scanning Screen".  Select the destination folder.  Add a User Name if you wish.  Name the document. Give it a password if you want.  Set the Color, Size, and Duplex settings.  Press the Scan button and there is the document, stored on the HDD.  To print it out again, start on the main Doc Server screen, select the file, and press Start.  Printing out the document is the ONLY thing you can do with the file.

2.  Classic Scan.  Press the Classic Scan button and select the "Store File" button at the top of the screen.  Select "Store to HDD".  You can also give it a User name, File Name, or Password, and select a folder to put it in.  Hit OK and select scan settings.  Press Start and your file is saved.

The advantage of using the Scan button to store documents is that you can download any file stored this way from the Web Image Monitor to your computer.  Meaning you can electronically pull stored documents from an old Ricoh copier to a new Ricoh copier.  I get this request all the time.
