Why do I end with the weird questions?

I have a customer with a 480W, needs to add another "print device", color scanner and color plotter. Today we signed an order for the wide format color scanner, Ricoh aka Epson Stylus 7700 and the Ricoh W2470.

His question: Can he take the same file and print to the 480W and the W2470 and expect the same quality from bothe systems (referring more to hatching and line weight)?

Gee, that is an easy one!

Nope.

They are fundamentally different technologies, The print may be similar, but you'll be able to tell the difference between the prints with the naked eye.

darn, I was thinking that this may not work. is it because one system is using the ratio print controller and the other is using a pcl driver?

Mostly due to different controllers rendering in different ways, and the engines being different.

Hey, it may still work out, I've got a pretty discerning eye for prints over the years.
