What the deal withthe new faxes?

It is a little strange. Ricoh has 2 new faxes, the 1170L and the 2210L. They dont show anything at all on their web site about them, no photos no nothing.
Gestetner on the other hand has 2 new faxes on their site, the F250 and F270. And they dont look like Ricohs. Maybe more Samsung stuff.

The Ricoh 1170L has the same feature set as the Samsung 560. We have been selling the Samsung 560 for a while. It's an okay fax but two problems are - toner yield - samsung says 3k but it doesn't get anywhere near that (ricoh says 4500 - I wonder about that) Also samsung 560 dual access is not as good as we are used to. I am now selling the samsung and unless Ricoh has improved the features I will continue, I don't need the same machine that I am buying with the samsung sticker to have the ricoh sticker at 2x the price. I may purchase 1 and run some test to compare dual access and toner yields versus the samsungs, if I do I'll post the results

Word is that Ricoh is putting their label on Brother products and selling them for twice the price of what Brother is. The new faxes look similar to the Brother 4100 series on the SOHO market. I'm used to seeing the Function Key or User Tools for setup, but when you see Menu, it is a dead giveaway.

I don't think they are Brother OEM's. We've seen only Samsung as Dean said. We've had problems with only one of these systems and they are related to dual access and the sender saying they are constantly receiving a busy signal, which I'm not sure of the cause. Maybe dual access or memory although the Samsungs have 2MB and the Ricoh's I believe a little more. We're going to try one of the Ricoh's and put it side by side with the Samsung. Another problem with the Samsungs is multi-page feeding.
