New Application Enables Users to Scan Documents Directly From the Copier to the Fortis Document Management Software System
BRANFORD, CT and NASHUA, NH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/05/2005 -- Westbrook Technologies, a leader in enterprise document management software for the mid-market and one of Deloitte and Touche's 2005 "Fast 50" technology companies in Connecticut, and eCopy™, Inc., a leading provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into enterprise software applications, today introduced the Fortis Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP. The Connector makes it easy for any user to scan documents directly from a network-attached copier to Westbrook's Fortis document management software, enabling users to quickly capture, track and manage paper-based information.

Through direct and seamless integration between Fortis and ShareScan OP document imaging software, the Connector improves ease-of-use and information security by providing unique user permissions and access rights at the copier. Customers can require users to enter their Fortis user name and password to protect against unauthorized use and provide a comprehensive audit trail for documents scanned at the copier, which is a critical requirement for organizations that store sensitive information in their document management system. Changes to user profiles, permissions, or folders made from any PC client in the network are immediately available, making information management from the copier as efficient as from the desktop. Additionally, the Connector simplifies set-up and administration by using application programming interfaces (APIs) that convert eCopy ShareScan OP into a client of the Fortis server at the copier.

"As e-business proliferates, there is an increasing need to incorporate paper documents into electronic workflows," said Edward Schmid, eCopy President and CEO. "By using eCopy's Software Developers Kit to quickly and easily integrate their application with ShareScan OP, Westbrook has provided a means to add paper-based information to Fortis directly from a network-attached copier, making it easier to speed information flow and address various compliance requirements such as HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley."
