When I'm on with a client, I also put my camera on no matter if I think I look bad or good. I just think it's good etiquette for others to see who they are speaking with. Today we had a meeting with a dealer rep from a large printer company, we both had our cameras on, I was surprised because the rep from a well known printer company did not turn his camera on. However treated us to a professional picture of himself for the entire meeting.
I was kinda pissed and thought the rep should have acknowledged as to why the camera was off. I wold have accepted any excuse and moved on, however it's 8 hours later and I'm writing about the episode for the virtual meeting. I felt it was more like "if the opportunity is big enough I'll decide if I want to turn the camera on".
Again, I just think it's common courtesy when you are the rep meeting with a client. In this case we were the potential client. I see this a lot from many of clients not turning on their cameras, but I don't expect that from them.
