INDUSTRY leader UBIX Corporation made another milestone in digital printing as it showcased three of its newest, top-of-the-line and modern equipment in an open house that will run until Friday at the White Garland function room of Grand Menseng Hotel.
A well-attended press conference kicked off the open house Wednesday with UBIX chair and chief executive officer Edilberto B. Bravo who led the panel that also included UBIX data center assistant vice-president Eisen Balcueva, sales and marketing senior vice-president and general manager Daniel Dumlao and general sales manager Migs de Guzman.

The Bizhub C8000, Konica-Minolta Bizhub C452 and Konica Minolta Bizhub C280 were featured in the event.
Bizhub C8000 is a high level digital press that offers a wide range of printing capabilities, producing high image quality and definition close to offset printers and can print in color at a speed of 80 pages per minute. It also has various in-line post processing system options for finishers like hole punching, folding, stapling, saddle stitching and perfect binding for the ease of commercial printers and other businesses.
The Konica-Minolta Bizhub C452, meanwhile, has a hard disk drive box function allowing users to scan, copy, print and fax data to the box. It can also print files from mobile phones and has an automatic access key display for USB flash memory devices.
With Konica Minolta Bizhub C280, one can do flexible network scanning, multiple transmission methods and simultaneous transmission of data to multiple addresses such as HDD user boxes, PCs and servers all in one operation. It also has a data storage feature and fax functions using the internet and intranet.
Bravo said Balcueva attended a training in Indonesia on how to improve the speed of their scanning machines, reduce use of manpower and more use of technology.
"We are excited that by middle of 2012 we will enjoy the result of his studies," Bravo said.
He said through digital date storage, their scanning equipment will convert analog information into a digital data. He likened it to a room full of documents reduced to a paper bag of DVDs (digital video disks).
Balcueva said his training focused on optical character recognition (OCR) and intelligent character recognition (ICR). These methods can convert handwritten data into digital data and can be used for checking test papers and output books in searchable PDF formats. mlsa
