Type 2018 Fax problems

Try reloading firmware also be sure that all your componants are secure. Bring out your local Ricoh rep, you may just have a bad fax option. Is it still under warrentee?

Havent seen any problems yet. Are the lines on tx or rx. Are the lines in the paper path direction or perpendicular to it.
Does it just happen with faxing?

First verify that’s it is truly just a faxing problem. If so, try sending from a different or known good fax machine. Making sure the problem s not with the sending unit.

Make sure FCU is seated correctly. Some are seated from the factory some aren't.

Strange things happens when the country code (NCU parameter)isnt correct

We have an RMAP 2015 with the same problem. Prints digital junk in RX as well as on internal fax reports. Copier and printer end both work fine. Machine was installed for only about 90 days when problem surfaced. (At least it is still under warranty.)

Waited for backordered FCU for 3 weeks. Meanwhile Ricoh had changed the part # (also on backorder with no e.t.a.).

Finally called RMAP about this issue, due to it being a Major Account. They could not help me. No FCUs to be found anywhere. Still waiting for somebody at Ricoh to send me a new FCU for their account.

Meanwhile machine has bad fax, and they're wearing out a loaner fax that's sitting beside their copier.

We just saw this the other day on a Savin 4018d (same as Ricoh 2018). Lines almost like a notebook sheet but vertical. Seemed to only come from internal print outs from fax (confirmations, etc...)

Looks like a firmware upgrade or something like that waiting to happen. Hope we don't have to wait too long, we are selling these like hotcakes and they are on back order as is.

I don't think it's the photoconductor unit. Does not happen on copies... This seems to be a known issue, probably something electronic or program related.

Ricoh just issued a bulletin (B620-003) detailing this problem.
Symtoms include Black stripes when imagi is rotated; Fax option not detected and/or SC820.
An IC on the FCU is to blame. Replace the FCU.
