It's Ricoh's own low end embedded controller. Fits all 400 DPI + units (JP4500 5500 8500). Although a GDI controller only, it really pumps out some good quality. It especially enhances the quality inherrent by using new HQ micropore master on the 4500. Really very nice. Built in NIC and parallel. Easy to install and very stable. Higly recommend over any ZipRip, unless PS is required.
I'm assuming that you're looking at placing the 4500? If so I really think they'll love it. It does display the usual GDI traits - different grayscaling (angles & color), etc. But beauty in the eye of the beholder. The HQ master makes soooo much difference. Can't wait until they release that technology on the 8500 replacement. But don't think that will be until next year.
I'd say go for it.
