TWAIN Working Group Launches New Online Community Engagement Portal and Tagline

Brand new community portal and refreshed tagline reinforce TWAIN’s commitment to great user experiences and forward-looking standards

Raleigh, NC – February 20, 2025 The TWAIN Working Group (TWG), a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing and supporting a universal standard for image acquisition devices, today announced the launch of a new, comprehensive online community portal. This unified site consolidates multiple websites, which include TWAIN.org, TWAINDirect.org, PDFRaster.org, and the TWAIN Resource Site—into a single destination (TWAIN.org). Designed to streamline access to key information while fostering an engaging community experience, the portal offers resources for TWAIN, TWAIN Direct and PDF Raster standards, educational content, online certification tools, discussion forums, industry news, events, and a marketplace for developers to promote their products and services tailored to the TWAIN community.

In line with our mission to expand access to technology, education, and standards, The TWAIN Working Group is pleased to introduce a new tagline: “Promoting Standards for Secure Image Data.” This tagline reflects TWAIN’s broadened focus on emerging technologies and future standards beyond traditional TWAIN and TWAIN Direct scanning applications, emphasizing secure data handling and interoperability.

“The TWAIN Working Group is thrilled to unveil this new online community portal and refreshed tagline centered on secure image data standards,” said Joseph Odore, TWAIN Working Group Board Chair. “Our goal was to simplify and enhance the user experience with an interactive website that meets the evolving needs of our community. The new tagline underscores our commitment in adapting key technologies and standards for tomorrow’s applications. Visit TWAIN.org to see it for yourself!”

The portal empowers scanner manufacturers, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and businesses to go beyond traditional capture applications with driverless web and mobile scanning solutions based on TWAIN and TWAIN Direct standards. It also provides information on integrating complementary technologies such as content authenticity, enhanced security, and processing advancements—enabling users to better manage compliance, leverage unstructured data, enrich applications and AI projects.
