Toshiba America Business Solutions Further Advances Efficient Document Management With New Server-Based Solution

Toshiba’s e-STUDIOTM KS-1000 Offers An Affordable and Easy
Document Management Solution

IRVINE, Calif., (May 3, 2004) – Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. (TABS) reinforces its commitment to maximizing business efficiency with the introduction of the Toshiba
e-STUDIOTM KS-1000, the company’s first internally developed server-based document management solution. The affordable and easy-to-use e-STUDIO KS-1000 was designed by TABS to help small workgroups of five to 10 users distribute, manage and organize documents, with the capability to serve user groups of up to 50 people dependent upon user demand. Archival and retrieval of both paper-based and electronic documents are the core features of the e-STUDIO KS-1000, making it the ideal solution for organizations and workgroups wanting to make a swift transition to an electronic file management system.
“We developed the e-STUDIO KS-1000 to be affordable and completely turn-key for users, further simplifying the process by making it seamlessly compatible with several Toshiba multi-function products,” said Mark Mathews, vice president, Marketing, TABS.
“Most businesses can recognize the efficiency improvements associated with improved document management processes, and the KS-1000 offers the easiest and most comprehensive solution currently available, providing users immediate results upon implementation.”
Document Indexing For Fast and Easy Retrieval
The e-STUDIO KS-1000 is built on a compact Toshiba appliance server with pre-installed software, requiring only simple configuring to join the product to the user’s network. Once installed, users can scan and archive paper-based documents, with the system performing optical character recognition (OCR) and creating an ‘index’ of all the words contained in the documents for fast and simple retrieval based on the document’s contents. Electronic documents also can be added and archived, and keywords can be added to a document’s archive file for retrieval capabilities beyond word content alone.
Document Management Made Even Easier With Toshiba MFPs

The e-STUDIO KS-1000 is the first complete document management solution designed to work with TABS’ mid-range multi-function product (MFP) line, allowing users to archive paper-based documents via the scanning options. Several TABS MFPs are compatible with the e-STUDIO KS-1000, including the new e-STUDIO350 and 450 monochrome MFP and the e-STUDIO3511 and 4511 color-enabled MFP. Additionally,
e-STUDIO550/650/810 users with GL 1020 controllers and users of the e-STUDIO28/35/45 with GL 1010 also can fully utilize the benefits of the e-STUDIO KS-1000. Future MFPs developed by TABS will be designed specifically for compatibility with the e-STUDIO
KS-1000.
Additional Document Collaboration Benefits
Further benefits of the e-STUDIO KS-1000 include version control capabilities and check-in/check-out features for enhanced document creation collaboration. These specialized program features were designed to allow multiple users to provide input into a developing document, while eliminating the risks and confusion typically associated with such efforts. In addition, the e-STUDIO KS-1000 also provides annotation capabilities, allowing users to add notes and comments to documents without actually modifying the core content.
The e-STUDIO KS-1000 is available through Toshiba’s nationwide network of dealers for the suggested list prices of $5,200 (USD).
