Toshiba said the Home Appliances segment recorded an increase in overall sales as its White Goods (major appliances) business recovered from the impact of the 2011 floods in Thailand and reported an increase in sales.
The segment's operating loss worsened, however. Industrial Air-Conditioner business had higher operating incomes on stronger sales. The White Goods business, however, recorded lower income in the first half of the year because of yen depreciation. Toshiba said it saw signs of improvement in the second quarter.
