for Office Environments
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., January 16, 2007 – To better meet the needs of their office imaging customers, Canon U.S.A., Inc., the nation's market share brand leader in black–and–white and color copier solutions , today introduced two new color and one monochrome desktop Laser Beam Printers (LBP) under the imageRUNNER brand name. With the introduction of the Color imageRUNNER LBP5960, Color imageRUNNER LBP5360, and imageRUNNER LBP3460 desktop printers, Canon now provides a more complete workflow solution for the general office environment.
"The addition of these new models, combined with the imageRUNNER branding and dealer channel, will allow Canon to fully meet the demands and needs of any customer environment and budget," said Tod Pike, senior vice president, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. "The market still demands single function printing technology, and with these new models, those customers can reap the benefit of a Canon imageRUNNER device on the desktop."
The new compact printer design fits neatly into tight workspace environments. With advanced system architecture for superior productivity, the new imageRUNNER LBP printers offer high speeds, high quality and exceptional performance. Along with exceptional print quality, Canon's new desktop imageRUNNER LBP models include the consistent imageRUNNER print drivers and device management tools such as Remote UI and imageWARE Enterprise Management Console. These tools and drivers will allow users to have seamless integration when combining imageRUNNER LBP printers in an environment that includes imageRUNNER multifunctional devices.
With the unique ability to adapt to the customer's specific business applications, and providing fast print speeds for the office workflow, the Color imageRUNNER LBP5960 operates at up to 30 pages–per–minute (ppm) for both color and black and white, while the Color imageRUNNER LBP5360 operates at up to 22 ppm for both color and black and white output for letter–sized media. The monochrome imageRUNNER LBP3460 operates at up to 35 ppm for letter–sized black–and–white output.
The new single function imageRUNNER LBPs pack a great deal of productivity and technology into a convenient compact design. Incorporating the latest in engine technology, these printers can achieve high print speeds for both color and monochrome documents. Color RAPID Fusing (LBP5960 and LBP5360) and RAPID Fusing (LBP3460) technology allows for short warm–up times and high throughput speeds. All three models support standard duplexing, potentially saving paper costs by enabling two–sided document printing, and Canon's UFR II Printing Technology, which helps improve processing speed by sharing the processing workload between the computer and printer.
The Color imageRUNNER LBP5960, which supports true 1,200 x 1,200 dots–per–inch (dpi) printing resolutions, features an adjustable 230–sheet front loading paper cassette that is versatile enough to accommodate paper sizes up to 11–inch x 17–inch including envelopes. The 90–sheet stack bypass tray will also allow users to print on a variety of stocks. For increased paper versatility, users can add three more 550–sheet cassettes to increase paper capacity. With the optional 20GB Hard Disk Drive installed, the administrator has the ability to enable security features such as Hard Disk Drive Data Erase.
The Color imageRUNNER LBP5360 offers 600 x 600 dpi letter–sized printing with a 250–sheet front–loading paper cassette and 100–sheet stack bypass tray. Busy office environments can take advantage of the ability to add an additional 500–sheet paper cassette. The Color imageRUNNER LBP5360 also includes an optional 20 GB Hard Disk Drive for print job box storage and Hard Disk Drive Data Erase, as well as uses four all–in–one toner cartridges for easy user replacement and maintenance.
The imageRUNNER LBP3460 is a letter–sized 600 x 600 dpi black–and–white printer for the general office environment. The printer can utilize an all–in–one cartridge with either a 6,000 or 12,000 image yield*, depending on office output needs. The single cartridge system contains all consumables for fast easy maintenance and consistent print quality. The printer also allows for an additional 500–sheet front–loading paper cassette for increased paper capacity.
All three single function LBP devices incorporate expanded memory capacities to provide high–speed image processing of data, up to 384MB RAM for Color imageRUNNER LBP5960/5360 and up to 320MB RAM for the imageRUNNER LBP3460. All three devices feature a standard USB 2.0 High Speed interface for direct connection to a host, as well as 10/100BaseTX Ethernet interface for shared use and remote monitoring in networked environments.
The Color imageRUNNER LBP5960, Color imageRUNNER LBP5360, and imageRUNNER LBP3460 will be available in January of 2007 through Canon authorized dealers, with MSRPs of $3,399, $1,350, and $999 respectively.
