The Copier Museum Opens in Providence, RI

Providence, RI, January 14, 2013 - COPEX Inc. in Providence, RI announces the opening of The Copier Museum, the first museum in the country dedicated entirely to copiers, and is open to the public. The collection includes copiers from as far back as the 1960’s when copiers were made of metal exteriors, versus the plastic exteriors commonly seen today.

COPEX Inc., originally The Copier Exchange, is a wholesaler/exporter focusing primarily on used copiers. Having been in business for over two decades, the company moved to its current 40,000 sq. foot location which created the space to house the museum.

Included with the collection are copier ads that were common in the 1960’s and 70’s. Various brands and models, some nearly 50 years old, make up the collection which is housed in a section of the COPEX warehouse. COPEX Inc. President Bob Blais opened the museum because he wanted “to share the history of copiers and their place in American business.” While there are other museums in the U.S. that include copiers, this is the only known collection comprised exclusively of copiers.

The museum is open to the public 9-5 Monday - Friday, reservations are needed for entry. The Copier Museum is located at 491 Silver Spring Street in Providence.
