Taws Printers Ltd. completes sale for Ricoh Pro C901S Graphic Arts Edition colour press and Pro 907EX black and white press
Shropshire-based print provider, Taws Printers Ltd. has recently invested in a Ricoh Pro C901S Graphic Arts Edition high volume colour digital press and a Pro 907EX black and white digital press to boost its digital operation. Vish Patel, owner of Taws Printers Ltd, travelled from his home in Dubai to the UK to witness the machine’s capabilities first hand following discussions between Ricoh and his senior staff. Having seen how the Pro C901S would increase productivity and his company’s business offering, the sale was finalised.
Taws Printers is an established and respected print provider producing a wide variety of printed products from business cards through to marketing documents. The organisation offers its customers a complete service from design and marketing, printing (litho and digital) to finishing and mailing.
Taws Printers first approached Ricoh in 2008, when it was looking to invest in a new full colour production press. The company was the first to purchase Ricoh’s Pro C900 colour digital press in the UK, and since this investment has worked with Ricoh to build a strong digital print offering. Over the last two years, it has grown substantially through marketing and sales efforts combined with an increased demand for digital short run print. Last December, Taws Printers entered into new discussions with Ricoh to support the company’s future planning and production strategy. It also subscribed to Ricoh’s Business Driver Programme, providing Taws Printers with the necessary tools, information, service and support to help it take its digital operation to the next level.
Vish Patel, Chairman, Taws Printers Ltd comments: “We have been closely monitoring Ricoh’s progress in the professional print sector and believe the company has an understanding of the digital print requirements an existing litho print supplier needs – its evolving relationship with Heidelberg and ever expanding market share further emphasises this. At Taws, we have a complete Heidelberg Workflow. All our pre-press, presses and finishing equipment has traditionally been Heidelberg, with the exception of the Ricoh Pro C900 digital colour press purchased in 2008. All our equipment fits into our workflow seamlessly, therefore, it was integral that our next digital print investment would too.
Mr Patel continues: “We were very pleased with the Ricoh Pro C900 digital colour press. The quality, service and support we received in relation to this machine has been excellent and has played a fundamental part in our decision to upgrade to the new Pro C901 Graphic Arts Edition, as well as introduce the Pro C907EX black and white press to our digital offering.
Karen Lawrence, Professional Print Solutions Marketing Manager, Ricoh UK adds: “We have worked with Taws Printers for a number of years now and have seen its business grow hand-in-hand with the development of Ricoh’s production print hardware and software technology. Taws Printers is a great example of an organisation that has embraced digital print and is looking at ways of maximising its investment. By purchasing Ricoh’s new Pro C901S Graphic Arts Edition and Pro C907EX mono machine, it is able to reach a wider audience and increase sales revenues. Succeeding in digital print is not just about purchasing digital presses, it’s about effective marketing to customers. For example, taking advantage of the ability to produce short run variable data and become a truly integrated part of the cross-media marketing platform.”
About Ricoh
Ricoh designs, develops and manufactures a complete range of print and document management, hardware, software and services which are tailored to meet individual customer needs. Its devices print, copy, scan and fax documents as an integrated part of the IT network and enterprise content management system. Software is used to audit usage, manage document flows, simplify business processes, control print expenditure and secure access. The company takes an innovative approach to research and development, having invented the first digital black & white copier and introducing the colour-capable device.
Ricoh established an Environmental Protection Office in 1976, and has been striving to minimise the effect of its activities on the environment ever since. Ricoh UK’s environmental credentials are second to none; it operates a zero-waste policy at all of its manufacturing plants and is investing in carbon reduction technologies to reduce the environmental impact of its operations rather than merely offsetting its carbon footprint. The company operates a dedicated ‘Green Centre’, where old machines are re-commissioned and recycled in line with WEEE Directive guidelines and accredited with ISO14001:2004 for environmental management. Ricoh has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard that requires an organisation to measure, manage and reduce its carbon footprint and, for the sixth consecutive year, has also been named as one of the “Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World” by the World Economic Forum in Davos.
