PLANO, Texas, Oct 11, 2013 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Tyler Technologies, Inc. today announced that the Superior Court of California, County of Orange, has selected Tyler's Odyssey(R) court case management system to modernize and streamline the Superior Court's operations.
Odyssey replaces the Superior Court's current case management system, which is nearing the end of its life cycle. Many of the legacy system's processes require manual operations to complete tasks, which can cause court backlogs and delays. With its automated functions, Odyssey will streamline processes and give court staff more time to focus on other critical court duties. Odyssey's case management and document management solutions will be used by the Superior Court for Family Law and Juvenile case types.
"We look forward to working with Tyler and using their Odyssey solution to improve services to litigants, lawyers, and the public at a reduced cost to the public," said Alan Carlson, CEO of the Orange County Superior Court.
The Superior Court is the second to procure Odyssey using the Master Services Agreement (MSA) that gives California's 58 Superior Courts the ability to purchase Tyler's Odyssey integrated court case management system at pre-negotiated terms, conditions and pricing outlined in the MSA. Purchasing through this MSA saves the courts time and money.
The MSA was developed by a group of IT leaders and court managers within the California judicial system as a way for the state's Superior Courts to efficiently purchase a case management system without the cost and inconvenience of conducting their own request for proposal (RFP) process. Orange joins the Superior Courts of San Luis Obispo, Kings, and Merced in a growing community of California courts implementing the Odyssey platform.
"The Superior Court of Orange County is nationally known for using technology to innovate court operations, having recently won a 2013 Digital Government Achievement Award recognizing those efforts," said Bruce Graham, president of Tyler's Courts & Justice Division. "We are excited to partner with a Superior Court that views technology strategically and as a vital part of its business processes. We look forward to implementing Odyssey to help meet the needs of the court and its constituents -- judges, court staff, justice partners and the public -- for many years to come."
Odyssey has been selected for use by more than 500 counties in 19 states, serving more than 75 million residents. Odyssey has been successfully deployed statewide in Indiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota; statewide implementations in Maryland, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington are currently under way.
