I was trying to set up the 2022 we got in today, and I can't get it to staple. The machine has the 500 sheet finisher. I had to load the drivers from the Savin and Gestetner websites (Ricoh doesn't have them yet). I loaded the RPCS and PCL. When I loaded the RPCS drivers, it said I had to configure the accessories (I thought that the driver did that). Anyway, I checked all the boxes, went to staple, and it was grayed out. It says I need one of three things: HDD, Finisher, or memory. I have the finisher, memory (192MB) but there is no box to check for the HDD. It doesn't see it either. The PCL lets me staple, but not the RPCS. Anyone know what's up here? P.S. the HDD came standard on the 2022S/P. and the Doc Server works, so I know it's good)

I always use SMN for Client when setting up drivers. This one really bugs me. Also, we did not get any print drivers with our 2022. We are still not getting print driver CD's with our 35's & 45's. Is anyone getting the CD's with their 35/45's? How about Lanier and Savin & Gestetner's? Do they come with the print driver CD's?
I go along with Graham. If you are connected through SmartDetectMonitor (or the archaic SmartNetMontior), when you click on update in the accessories tab, it should find every accessory automatically. In the old days (Aficio 200, 220), I could "fool" the driver and tell it there was more RAM and get it to sort when there wasn't any added. I don't know if it was because the driver was "dumb" or the operating system, but I discovered recently that I couldn't fool the driver in an XP environment ... nevertheless, yours is already loaded so this shouldn't matter.

Thanks for your email. Please set the paper size in the drawers for the RPCS driver before you try to staple. Go into Printing Preferences and click on the Printer Configuration button. Then set the paper size for each drawer.
I have seen this on serveral machines. If you do not set paper sizes up in the driver the staple will not work. You can tell be the icon in in the RPCS driver bacause the staple does not appear in the picture. Once tray sizes are set it appears. I used to use SNM to set up ports but now I use Standard tcp/ip ports on 2000 and XP. Am I missing out on anything I should beaware of doing it this way? Thanks JG.
Maybe I'm stupid, but didn't the RPCS driver used to see the accessories and how the machine was setup and do all that you said we now have to do? I figured it out yesterday and did set the paper sizes in the drawers, and it works now. I used to love the RPCS Driver because there was no setup necessary. It found the accessories and everything else. With the PCL you had another step of going in an adding accessories. I think that Ricoh has gone back a few steps with this one. But...thanks for the help guys!
If you use Savin, Gestetner or Lanier RPCS drivers on a Ricoh device the accessories/paper trays will not be automatically configured even with a SmartNet port. The problem is in the 'Plug And Play" name in the SP Mode. If it is Ricoh in 'Plug And Play Name" and the driver is Savin it will not communicate correctly with the driver.
