I have not been asked this question in 15 years, so I need some help from all. Risograph used to have a 27 bin sorter that could be attached to their duplicators but cost about the same price as the duplicator itself. They were cumbersome and really defeated the purpose of what a duplicator was designed to do, but nevertheless, they did sort.
I have a new customer that wants to see if they are still available for the Ricoh series. Ricoh tells me that they are partnering with MBM Corp for offline sorters, but this customer wants an online sorter. I think the tape marker will do the same purpose and not sacrifice the speed. Any thoughts?

I sold what you are referring to but like you say, very expensive and very limited applications because of the limitations.

If you decide to persue this, you need to look 3rd party and higher-end, not the MBM's/Duplo's of the world. You want to deal with people that live in the "press" environment. Once you find what you are looking for, in my opinion, you need to negotiate a lead fee and then step away. You don't want to have the long-term responsibility to the product.

What you would be looking for is a device that doesn't care what is feeding it. It just takes the sheet it is given and directs it to a bin.

Ultimately, I think you will spend alot of time and effort just to end up back to your original conclusion that the tape sorter and off-line collator is the best option.

Good Luck
