I set up a DSm645sp today and was showing the IT guy how to configure the mach with a web browser. Leaving the username blank and entering password for the password.
He asked if this would work for the two 2712s he already has on line. I said "should, try it" he did and it didnt.
How to enter the admin mode from a web browser for the 2712? (B027)

Thanks for the reply. There is no problem reaching the machine with a browser but there is a user mode and an admin mode. To enter admin mode requires a user name and password. On the newer machines it is: leave the user name blank and the password is "password". This doesnt seem to work for the 2712, altho the user mode is there. He has never been able to get into admin mode on these two machines.
It may be the same and just needs to be "reset to default"
Thanks, tried that too.
From everything I have read so far, the "blank" user name and 'password" password should have done it. I am thinking someone changed the password on the 2712s. I called the IT guy today and left him a message, telling him how to reset the NIB defaults, as detailed above.
I would make the trip myself but going into "downtown DC" these days is a nightmare!
It should have worked for him. The default name is blank, and the default password is "password". Someone probably changed the user name or password using the admin tools. If you do not know what the user name/passowrd is, you must have a technician reset the code. The code can only be reset by a technician.

Thanks for the reply Bob. That is the info I have relayed to the customer.
However, I know the reset method of which you speak and it is the long way around.
This from Ricoh "One of the easiest ways to reset the NIB / NIC of your MFP or printer is to use our "NIB Setup Tool" that comes with our "SmartNetMonitor for Admin" utility. Once you launch Nib Setup Tool and select a device, you can choose the "Nib" menu and select "reboot Nib". You will then be prompted with a screen that has a checkbox for "reset to factory default".
"Please refer to the attached screenshot."
