WASHINGTON, March 10—End users expect convenience and ease of use when purchasing desktop document scanners. To further meet customer expectations, Kodak today announced at FOSE 2009 in Washington, D.C., the availability of additional capabilities for its easy to use Smart Touch scanner button feature. These enhancements include direct scanning to MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT Server, for the KODAK i1200 and i1300 Series Scanners.

Kodak recognizes the importance of this and rises to the challenge, providing customers easy scanner uploads to SHAREPOINT Servers with a just a press of the scanner’s button,” said Tony Barbeau, Vice President, Marketing, Document Imaging, Business Solutions and Services, Eastman Kodak Company. “Entering paper content to MICROSOFT SHAREPOINT Server repositories has never been so easy.”
The MICROSFT SHAREPOINT Server connection is totally automated, requiring no additional server components and featuring a new status utility program allows users to scan and upload images simultaneously. Smart Touch enhancements also include bitmap image output, single page PDF output and customized shortcuts. Other new features include:
improved identification and deletion of blank pages,
merging front and rear images,
capability for third party applications to initiate scans via the Smart Touch feature, passing the image back to an application
For power users, KODAK Capture Pro Software, available separately, offers an even richer button function that also supports batch separation, complex file indexing and many other production quality features.
At $799 (MSRP), the KODAK i1210 Scanner offers simplex scanning at 30 pages per minute (ppm). The KODAK i1220 Scanner, $1,195 (MSRP), provides duplex capabilities at 30 ppm. At $1,596 (MSRP) the KODAK i1310 Scanner provides simplex scanning at 60 ppm, while the KODAK i1320 Scanner offers duplex scanning at 60 ppm for $2,395 (MSRP).
