Doug Albregts, new president of Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), hinted at an announcement of a new partnership during the press-only product fair at Sharp’s national dealer meeting on Sunday. The agreement could be significant for Sharp and their family of dealers. The following day, amid bright lights and smoke machines during the General Session of the conference, the mystery partnership was revealed to be with multi-billion dollar reseller SHI –one the biggest VARs in the world.

Sharp and SHI are hoping the partnership has big results for both organizations. SHI has access to a multitude of Fortune 500 accounts that Sharp has not been able to penetrate. As one Sharp executive noted, the excitement of copiers isn’t what it used to be in big organizations. On the other hand, SHI has built its business on almost exclusively A4 machines, and has had no answer for A3, and had previously had to walk away from accounts with those needs. With access to Sharp’s entire product lineup, a significant gap can be filled in both organizations’ business.
