Sharp’s parent to focus on electric cars
Sharp is a division of Foxconn of Taiwan (aka Hon Hai Precision)
- “We are not in the business of selling our own brand of electric vehicles, but we do want our customers to sell a lot of electric vehicles”; stated Liu Young-way, chairman of Foxconn
- Aims to manufacture much of the world’s electric vehicles
- Goal of $31 billion in electric vehicle sales revenue in 2025
- Will use plants in Taiwan, Thailand and the U.S.
