(Cleveland)- A businessman involved in a schools scandal has been sentenced...
Toledo business supply store owner John Briggle will spend the next four years behind bars and was ordered to pay restitution of $154,400 plus pay a $20,000 fine.
Before Judge Dick Ambrose handed down the sentence Monday morning Briggle apologized to the school district, the students, and staff.
Briggle pleaded guilty to conspiring with former Cleveland Schools Chief Operating Officer Daniel Burns to rip off the district in a scam over copy machines. Burns approved the invoices and he and Briggle split the payouts for six large copy machines...machines which didn't exist. Briggle kicked back half the money to Burns. In July Burns got six years in prison.
