On two separate occassions with 2 different churches I've had problems with the booklet finisher on this model.

Here's what I'm trying to do:

3 page document, landscape.
Tray 3 loaded with preprinted bulletin cover.

Pull the paper from tray 3 and print page 1 of the document on the second side.

Print the remaining 2 pages duplex out of tray 2 and staple them together.

It doesn't seem like it should be that hard...I know I've done it on the C2525 and other models with the booklet finisher.

I'm using the PCL5 driver and selecting Front Cover out of tray 3 print on one side (it doesn't say if it is the front side or backside and I believe it may be printing on the front side...after all it is a "cover" and most people would want to print on the front of a cover maybe this is the problem.

I'm hoping to get another crack at it by Friday.

I don't have the answer for this, hopefully someone else does, however when I get into something like this the first thing I do is print the document to the document server and then attempt to configure the system to what I need. It just saves alot of time instead of going back and having to click print again.
This booklet finisher is not right. It works fine until you try to attach a cover, then it is a total pain and WILL make you look like a fool in front of your customer.

I wouldn't try to demonstrate this to a customer unless you know it works. The smaller booklet finisher on the MPC3002 works perfectly.

Tech support referred me to a knowledge base article that talks about using the PostScript driver. Great, but the machine doesn't come with PostScript standard.

I think the finishers are all made by a third party and fit on many manufacturer's systems. I would think with a firmware upgrade Ricoh could fix this.

Naturally, churches are going to want to print bulletins with pre-printed covers. I can't believe they haven't fixed this yet.
