I ran into this yesterday. Currently, Ricoh does not support Windows Vista with its Plotbase software. I spoke with tech services and they said it is being worked on (a new version of Plotbase is being developed) but they were very careful to give me absolutely no time frame in which I could expect any solutions. This made me look like an idiot in front of my new client. I would have never thought that Ricoh couldn't have seen this coming and been a little more prepared. Live and learn.

Good Luck, MOTech!

Just an FYI (and nothing to do with wide format). I used the XP version of our RPCS driver on a Savin C2408 from a Vista workstation and it worked fine. Is anyone aware of any other Vista issues we will need to prepare ourselves for?

Man, was I embarrassed when my brand new Savin 2400 couldn't print from any workstations in this client's Vista environment. I've been doing this way too long to make a rookie mistake like that. I'll go hang my head in shame (at a local bar...after all it's Friday and billing is closed for the month).

Have a great weekend, all!
I have definately heard that you can't use the XP drivers on the 64 bit version of Vista as they are not digitally signed and that version won't let you use them. Other than that, XP and prior allowed programs to run as system unchecked...this leaves security open since if a virus got access at system level it could do whatever. Vista is supposed to limit access many programs and drivers have. This will affect functionality obviously.

Plotbase isn't made by Ricoh so it isn't totally their fault. They have to rely on Ratio to produce their software.

Maybe that is the decision we should be beating them up over Smile.
For the RW-240 & 480, PB version 3.6, plotting from a Vista Biz 32 installed OS (versus 64) is working OK with the regular 32 bit Winprint Windows driver, Autocad HDI driver and Plotclient application, although it is not officially supported.

For the new RW-3600 running the traditional Plotbase external controller with the new 3.7 version, you can install the Plotbase Server application on a Vista Biz 32 (or XP-PRO) PC. Clients PCs are officially supported for Vista Biz 32 & 64 with all client software applications

All 240 & 480's will support both Vista 32 Plotbase Server PC and Biz 32 or 64 Client applications when 3.7 is released for those products.

An interim solution would be Ratio's Plotbase|PM which supports Vista Biz 32 as a server application and Biz 32 / 64 for all client applications. It's available now from Ratio, at extra cost.
