Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a market leader in consumer electronics and world leader in IT technology, unveiled a portfolio of print devices designed to help schools and colleges minimize print waste and energy consumption, and ultimately reduce their costs. The devices allow greater flexibility and control over printing for students and teachers by bringing cutting edge print technology into the classroom.

To complement these devices, Samsung has launched the unique Total Cost of Ownership tool (TCO) to allow schools and colleges to quantify how much could be saved by switching to Samsung printers and multi-function printers (MFPs). Samsung have also introduced a 5 year free warranty on a range of business machines to drive huge cost savings into the education sector.*

New devices for education
This year, Samsung Print division can be found on stand K28. Samsung is launching two new devices at BETT 2011 – the ML-3710ND mono laser printer is a versatile desktop, ideal for small workgroups, and the SCX-4833FD is the perfect solution for larger workgroups looking for a reliable and easy-to-use mono print device. Both models contain the very latest in print technology to deliver quick and easy printing as well as cost-benefits for the classroom.

Total Cost of Ownership tool
Samsung is aware of the budget pressures faced by many educational organisations. In response to this, the TCO tool is an easy to use print calculator which advises on the best print solution for your needs as well as showing the level of saving that can be made. The tool can be found online at http://www.samsungprintcalculator.co.uk/

Samsung’s print devices boast a number of key features that can save teachers and pupils time, minimise energy consumption, ensure data security and give teachers and support staff the opportunity to bring certain print jobs in-house.

Ease of set-up
Samsung’s ease-of-set-up print technology helps staff and students save time and drive efficiencies. For example Samsung’s unique Blue Compass Navigation panel gives users easy access to all print, copy, fax and scan functions, displaying information and intuitive controls that reduce time spent troubleshooting. Samsung’s one-touch technology also makes copying fast, simple and easy for students, teachers and support staff.

Supporting software
Samsung provides a wide range of software to support print management. For example Samsung’s SyncThru™ Admin 5 software enables schools and colleges to manage and monitor all printer and MFP devices on their network remotely through job accounting, usage monitoring, and storage management – all of which enhance productivity and efficiency, saving valuable time.

Environmentally aware
All of Samsung’s print devices are environmentally accredited, having achieved the Blue Star certification. Blue Angel certified products ultimately save organisations energy and money. All Samsung printing devices since 2008 have also been awarded the Energy Star™ certification. And finally, all Samsung printers and MFPs are tested and approved by The Buyers Lab. With over half of all document output costs associated with purchasing paper and toner, Samsung offers a range of features aimed at helping schools and colleges reduce print waste, minimise costs and their environmental footprint.

Dion Smith, General Manager, Samsung UK Print Division says: “Samsung is dedicated to delivering exceptional A4 and A3, printers and multifunctional devices for the education sector. We also understand that schools and colleges are under more pressure than ever to spend their IT budgets wisely. As a result we’re particularly excited about the TCO tool as it enables our valued education customers to identify clear cost savings that can be made through aligning your investments to the typical usage experienced amongst students, staff and administrators. Our new 5 year free warranty, which can be redeemed online, will be available on a number of business machines this year. We hope schools and colleges take advantage of this offer to reduce their costs and ensure peace of mind. ”
