Ricoh tops a year of sustainable sponsorships with a carbon neutral approach at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London
Nov 21, 2011 London – Ricoh Europe, a specialist in office solutions, managed document services and production printing will be working with the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London this week to make document processes at the high profile tennis tournament more sustainable. The activity forms part of Ricoh’s commitment to providing carbon neutral document management to all its sponsorships through its award-winning Sustainability Optimisation Programme*.
As Platinum Partner and Official Office Solutions Provider of the ATP World Tour, Ricoh helps the ATP to manage the way important documents are processed in the daily organisation of the tournament. In 2011, Ricoh – named as one of the 100 most sustainable corporations in the world for seven consecutive years** – introduced its Sustainability Optimisation Programme to 13 ATP World Tour tournaments, making all critical document processes carbon neutral.
At the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, Ricoh will once again set all its devices to energy efficient default settings, helping employees and journalists using them to minimise environmental impacts – for instance by sending documents by email to avoid unnecessary printing, or by printing double sided. At the end of the tournament, all remaining, unavoidable carbon emissions will be offset through carbon credits generated by clean energy projects in which Ricoh has invested.
As well as offsetting carbon emissions from document management on Ricoh devices at the ATP World Tour events it sponsors, Ricoh introduced this sustainable approach to the 2011 Ricoh Women’s British Open. The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London this week mark the final event in a year of environmentally responsible sponsorships for Ricoh.
Javier Diez-Aguirre, Director of Corporate Communications, Ricoh Europe, said: “Our unique approach to sponsorships sees Ricoh teaming up with leading sporting and business organisations, encouraging one another to be the best we can be. These partnerships have inspired us to go beyond simply streamlining the document processes at the events we sponsor to make them work more efficiently and effectively, to providing an entirely carbon neutral document management service. As a result, the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals demonstrate not only excellence in tennis, but a commitment to excellence in sustainability.”
