GlobalScan 2.0 offers enhanced features such as support for up to 250 MFPs per server, and the ability to integrate with various document management solutions. With a highly configurable interface, the system can be customized to operate with tab-style navigation on the MFP's touch screen. Offering heightened security for communications between an MFP and the GlobalScan 2.0 server, BLI recognized that the solution eliminates the need to encrypt information at the desktop and includes multiple authentication modes, thus helping organizations to more easily comply with government regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Other features include failover support, open architecture for Software Development Kit, and the ability to search for, display, select and scan to multiple folders and subfolders on the MFP's touchscreen.

"We are pleased that Buyers Laboratory chose to review GlobalScan 2.0 and recognized the solution with a 'Five Star' rating," said Wayne Mize, vice president of Solutions Marketing, Ricoh Corporation. "Document management continues to be a critical issue, and businesses are increasingly looking for smarter ways to manage information. Ricoh's GlobalScan 2.0 is a superior solution able to meet these needs quickly and efficiently."

BLI awarded GlobalScan 2.0 the highest rank in five categories, including ease of integration, security capabilities, documentation, dealer and customer training and support, and garnered near perfect ratings in all others. Of these, BLI touted system integration as one of GlobalScan's "key selling points," noting that it integrated remarkably well with a broad range of back- end enterprise applications.

"BLI has no hesitation recommending GlobalScan to organizations looking for a solution that is scalable, cost-effective and easy to install," said Mark Young, senior editor at BLI. "This advanced solution has the potential to greatly increase Ricoh's visibility in the marketplace."

GlobalScan 2.0 accepts documents from select Ricoh Aficio MFPs, and effectively eliminates the process of scanning, creating a file and saving it to the server. Documents can be delivered in several formats, including PDF and TIFF -- with options for searchable PDF, Rich Text Format and Microsoft Excel.
