Malvern, PA, December 2, 2014 - Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced it has partnered with Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc. (LRS) to offer the company’s VPSX® software as part of its comprehensive enterprise output management solution for healthcare.

The VPSX solution is designed to help hospitals and other organizations ensure that critical data gets to important decision makers in a timely manner. It’s also intended to help healthcare organizations simplify their IT effort, eliminate print queue traffic jams, integrate information-generating applications, administer security, and strengthen compliance with regulations such as HIPAA.

To deliver these benefits, VPSX software provides connectivity from multiple hospital system platforms to a wide range of Ricoh output devices. These typically print documents such as patient ID wristbands; barcode stickers for lab samples; financial and lab reports; HCFA, CMS and NHS forms; patient dietary orders; treatment notes; patient charts; insurance submissions and more.

“Healthcare organizations spend millions of dollars on medical applications to produce critical data to make more informed and effective decisions,” said Patrick Braun, Vice President, Healthcare, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “But if that information doesn’t make it to the appropriate decision-maker in a timely manner, patients could be at risk. VPSX automates this work, formatting, tracking, monitoring and managing output to help ensure the right people get this information at the right time in the correct format. As such, it’s another important element of delivering information mobility to our clients.”

LRS customers report compelling returns on their investment. In an August 2013 report, IDC reported having interviewed 13 companies about their use of LRS solutions to manage their printers. In aggregate, the companies:
• Reduced IT labor costs by $28,273 per 100 managed printers annually by improving IT staff productivity.
• Enhanced user productivity by $4,398 per 100 managed printers annually by reducing print services downtime and help-desk issues.
• Lowered annual business capital and operational print services costs by $20,799 per 100 printers.
• Generated a three-year return on investment (ROI) of 384 percent and a payback period of less than five months.*

Benefits in Detail
VPSX software is designed to significantly reduce the number of hardware devices, print queues, printer drivers and servers an organization requires. It replaces these points of potential failure with central management of print output and automatic failover capabilities. The VPSX solution supports medium and large acute and clinical environments, leveraging documented interfaces with electronic medical record providers, such as Cerner, Epic, McKesson and GE. Print jobs can be submitted via mobile devices.

VPSX software also provides expanded visibility into the healthcare output environment, enabling organizations to track not only who prints sensitive information, but who views it as well. For example, an organization can use the VPSX solution to establish secure “pull print,” which requires users to swipe an ID badge at the printer to retrieve a document. This approach helps organizations improve security and compliance.

The LRS® software offering enables organizations to stay productive even when a computing infrastructure is in distress. For example, VPSX software includes a “satellite” capability that pushes latest versions of critical documents, reports, and forms to workstations. This capability helps ensure clinicians and others have 24/7 access to critical information for patient care.

“Both Ricoh and LRS are acknowledged as experts in the healthcare IT community,” said Jay Boor, Manager of Alliance Sales at LRS. “Together, we will help Ricoh customers provide assured delivery of critical healthcare documents, for better patient care at lower cost. The synergy between our companies is already delivering results for our mutual customers.”
