Malvern, PA, April 7, 2015 – Ricoh Americas Corporation was positioned as a leader in IDC MarketScape’s newest assessment of a dozen smart MFP vendors.

Ricoh’s “smart MFP portfolio appropriately revolves around IDC’s four pillars – especially cloud (e.g., ICE) and mobility (e.g., information mobility) – and plays an integral role in the company’s broader ‘new ways to work’ strategy,” writes Keith Kmetz, Vice President of IDC’s Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions programs, in the March 2015 “IDC MarketScape: U.S. Smart Multifunction Peripheral 2014-2015 Vendor Assessment (doc #254761, March 2015).” “Ricoh generally moves faster to these transformative market changes than other competitors and gets themselves firmly established to take advantage of new opportunities and growth.”

The report also cites Ricoh’s substantive portfolio, strong sales network, evolving business model, branding around information mobility, and leadership in the Managed Print and Document Services market.

IDC defines a smart MFP as one that does more than print by incorporating copying, scanning, faxing or a combination. It must be network and/or Internet ready, have a customizable graphical user interface (e.g., touchscreen) panel, and be programmable.

“Our customers need not only powerful, programmable MFPs but solutions, services and strategies for managing all of their business information,” said Tim Vellek, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “Recognizing this early on has helped our customers achieve higher levels of information mobility and our company to be named a leader in the IDC MarketScape on Smart MFP. Our ongoing commitment is to provide solutions that support and drive new, better ways of working. We’re grateful IDC clearly sees our progress.”
