Ricoh MFPs embrace Apple phone, tablet and iPod users in the workplace
AirPrint certification of 10 Ricoh multifunction products helps make mobile printing simple and workers productive in new 'BYOD' culture
PR Newswire
MALVERN, Pa., Dec. 3, 2012
MALVERN, Pa., Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced that iPhone®, iPad® and iPod touch® users can print directly to 10 Ricoh multifunction products (MFPs) via Wi-Fi through their local network – no software to download, drivers to install or cables to connect. The capability enables mobile workers, or anyone who has migrated from a PC to an iPad for some or all of their daily work activities, to quickly print hard-copy business letters, presentations, proposals, boarding passes, tickets and more.
Apple® mobile devices – iPad, iPod touch and iPhone, including the recently announced iPhone 5 – automatically locate nearby AirPrint™-enabled devices, which include these Ricoh MFPs recently certified by Apple: MP 301, MP C305, MP C3002, MP C3502, MP C4502, MP C5502, MP C4502A, MP C5502A, MP 4002 and MP 5002.
"AirPrint compatibility, part of Ricoh's new intelligent MFP platform, helps make employees who use Apple mobile devices in their day-to-day work more productive, both inside their companies and on the road," said Dominic Pontrelli, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "Easy mobile printing relieves IT of the burden of managing software downloads and eliminates the need for mobile employees to send e-mail attachments around an office just so they can be printed from desktops."
This certification deepens Ricoh MFP support for all the standard smart phones and tablets, essential for organizations adapting to the rapidly emerging bring-your-own-device (BYOD) culture, and creates another way to embrace the full potential of cloud-based computing. Seventy-eight percent of U.S. white collar employees use a mobile device for work, and 95 percent of organizations allow employee owned devices in the workplace, with most providing some level of support, according to a recent Cisco study.
AirPrint works with built-in Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod touch apps such as Safari, Mail, Photos, iWork and PDFs in iBooks. Printing occurs in the background, letting users quickly get back to what they were doing. Users can also line up print jobs and manage their queues.
This is part of the broad range of mobility solutions Ricoh offers to help organizations accommodate an increasingly mobile workforce. It complements the new Ricoh Mobile Worker Services portfolio, recently announced, designed to give mobile workers instant access to the information they need to be productive. Firmware update may be required for using the AirPrint function. Please contact your sales representative if you want to learn more about this function and its availability on your Ricoh device.
