Ricoh launches high-volume digital colour press

FULL STORY
Ricoh UK has launched a new high-volume colour digital press, the ProC900 C-80, featuring colour server technology from Creo. The Creo advanced external Color Controller C-80 enables Ricoh users not only to increase the productivity of their systems but also to achieve superior appearance on their output.

‘Our customers are looking for efficient, high-performance digital systems to complement an offset press,’ said Karen Lawrence, Professional Print Solutions marketing manager, Ricoh UK. ‘The ProC900 C-80, with Creo server technology, meets those demands exactly. The C-80 RIP is very fast, deriving its high performance from its fusion technology. One subsystem takes care of the RIPing process and another manages the printing. As such, print and RIP actions never interfere with one another and the processes do not slow each other down. The Creo Color Servers Fusion Imaging Technology allows simultaneous RIPing and printing.’

The new Ricoh ProC900 C-80 leverages the industry-recognised heritage of the Creo Color Servers to allow Ricoh to offer a robust system to the commercial print market. Along with increasing productivity and professional colour capabilities, the ProC900 C-80 provides Ricoh customers powerful workflow tools, ease of use, support for all ProC900 in-line finishing peripherals, and built-in variable data printing (VDP) capabilities. Its simplicity and user-friendly graphic user interface (GUI) allow the operators to start turning out flawless print deliveries immediately.

Built-in JDF capabilities and workflow connectivity enable the ProC900 C-80 to seamlessly connect into industry-leading production print workflows, allowing automation of all print process stages, from submission, through prepress and digital workflow management, finishing, shipping and MIS. First-class connectivity to leading prepress workflows, such as Kodak Prinergy and Agfa Apogee, results in full integration of offset and digital printing operations, faster turnaround times and reduced labour costs. Urgent jobs, short runs, and proofs, for example, can be easily re-routed from offset, to a digital workflow.

‘The Color Controller C-80 is a powerful colour server to streamline and control workflows. This is becoming ever more important in production printing,’ says Hezy Rotman, general manager, Kodak’s Print On-Demand Solutions Group. ‘We’re very happy to collaborate with Ricoh on developing a Creo Color Server solution for Ricoh ProC900 users who would like to meet their customer’s needs and to offer them end-to-end services’.

The ProC900 C-80 gives Ricoh customers the ability to process even the most complex colour jobs at high speeds. The intuitive C-80 colour controller provides advanced colour management tools. It helps ensure that Ricoh users consistently produce high-quality output through default settings, easy colour calibration, and the ability to make last-minute corrections easily, edit spot colours and correct gradation without re-RIPing thanks to its unique Ready-To-Print (RTP) format.

The Ricoh ProC900 C-80 is the latest addition to Ricoh's advanced range of colour production printing equipment. The ProC900 series is one of the market’s most productive cut sheet digital print engines, capable of performing at top speed, 90 full colour sheets per minute, with media ranging from 60 - 300gsm. It offers heavy production performance at a light production price and features advanced imaging technology developed with the benefit of Ricoh’s 30 plus years of experience in imaging technology. Ricoh currently manufactures one of the world’s most extensive line-ups of printers, copiers, faxes and multifunctional devices, as well as advanced software solutions.
