Ricoh is one of the world’s most sustainable companies for the eighth year in a row
Jan 27, 2012 London, Ricoh Europe, a specialist in office solutions, managed document services, IT services and production printing today announced the company has, for the eighth year in a row been rated one of the “Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World”. The 2012 Global 100 was unveiled during the annual World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland.
Dr Terry F. Yosie, President and CEO of the World Environment Center, and speaker at a recent Ricoh event for clients to share best practice approaches to sustainable business, said, “Ricoh demonstrates an excellent and long-term approach to sustainability in the way it conducts its business, and also sets a best practice example for its customers and peers. Tom Wagland, Environmental Manager, Ricoh Europe said, “Being recognised as one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations for the eighth year running is strong public recognition of our commitment to sustainability. It is also a testament to the culture of the business which has focused on sustainability for more than 30 years. In 2005 we set tough targets to reduce our environmental impact, and we’re well on the way to reducing our CO2 emissions by 87.5 per cent by 2050. At the same time, we’re committed to helping our clients to reduce their environmental impacts through our sustainability consultancy service which reduces the costs of managing document processes at the same time as minimising associated environmental impacts.”
The Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World is the most extensive corporate sustainability assessment in existence, with 4000 companies evaluated and inclusion limited to a select group of the top 100 large-cap companies in the world. The Global 100 2012 was announced on January 25th, 2012, at the annual Corporate Knights dinner at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The prestigious recognition tops a year of accolades for Ricoh’s commitment to sustainability in its own business, and for its customers around the world. These include Ricoh Europe’s sustainability consultancy programme being awarded first prize in the EFQM Sustainability Good Practice Competition 2011, and the launch of Europe’s first eco-board, powered 100% by dual sources of sustainable energy.
