Ricoh Introduces PRIPORT JP8500
Digital duplicator powerfully and reliably meets high-volume production requirements
West Caldwell, NJ, January 28, 2003 -- Ricoh Corporation, the Dependable DigitalTM output company, today introduced the Ricoh® Priport JP8500 Digital Duplicator, a high speed digital printing solution that completes high-volume jobs quickly and efficiently while providing superior image quality and paper handling.
The Priport JP8500 is ideal for use by print-for-pay concerns, central reprographics departments and facility management companies. The Priport JP8500 enhances workflow with unmatched image quality and tight registration, as well as added flexibility when it comes to the types, weights and sizes of output paper. Features include Embedded PostScript®3 connectivity and a new Ink Delivery System that furthers image quality by providing greater ink control, economic printing and quality output that has ultra-fast dry time with no ink set-off.

True 600 dpi resolution, used in both the Priport JP8500's scanning and printing processes, combined with 256 grayscale scanning, ensures the sharpest edges and cleanest lines on all body copy and headlines, along with better defined halftones to satisfy the most discerning eye. The Priport JP8500 also makes selecting the right color for jobs easy with Ricoh's Digital Duplicator Custom Color Program that provides duplicator ink in any PMS color chosen.
Additional productivity-enhancing features include:
A Speed of 120 pages per minute with an Image Resolution of 600 dots-per-inch provides the solution for high volume jobs that need superior image quality.
Scan and store up to eight originals for instant retrieval and printing to streamline job production. Scanned images are conveniently auto-rotated to match the direction of paper in the feed trays.
Automatic Document Feeder recognizes the size of the original to ensure that the master is cut to the most efficient size saving up to 33% of the cost of masters.
A Job Separator mechanically separates multiple print jobs by offsetting the top sheet of each preceding job.
Consistent, clear copies are made from even bulk bound-type originals (up to 11" x 17" paste-ups) without secondary shadowing.
Energy Saver Mode kicks in when the JP8500 is not in use, reducing poser consumption by 85 percent compared to normal operation.
User Codes allow tracking of up to 20 different accounts.
Nine Preset Job Settings provide easy access to constantly-run types of jobs such as forms.
Stamping, Overlay and Security Modes offer added versatility.
With the optional true PostScript 3 embedded Type 80 Controller interface, the JP8500 can print from virtually any connected Windows, Macintosh or networked operating systems. In addition, the controller's built-in printer management solution, SmartNetMonitor, provides real-time access to such information as paper settings, mis-feed alerts, job history, security features and workflow management with other Ricoh Aficio® digital products.
