RICOH INTRODUCES GLOBALSCAN SERVERLESS SOLUTION
First-of-its-Kind Serverless Digital Document Routing System
BOSTON, April 17, 2007 – Ricoh Americas Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, announced the newest edition to its GlobalScan Server family of products, GlobalScan Serverless (GSS), the only solution available today that truly operates without a server. Compatible with a range of Ricoh Multifunction Products (MFPs), GSS will be able to fit into any customer environment from a small-to-medium business to the most demanding large enterprise environments.
Building upon the award-winning features already offered by GlobalScan products, the GSS presents new capabilities such as an improved user interface and enhanced security features. In addition, when paired with a Ricoh MFP, users can utilize the one-touch command buttons to scan documents to be routed to multiple locations including networked folders, home folders, fax machines, and e-mail inboxes. Besides expediting delivery time, it also reduces expenses by eliminating the need for overnight shipping and fax line costs. The current list of models with which GSS seamlessly integrates includes the Aficio MP 5500, MP 6500, MP 7500, MP 9000, MP 1100, MP 1350, MP C2500, MP C3000, MP C3500, and MP C4500.
To help protect shared documents, GSS provides several network authentication protocol capabilities from LDAP, to NT and Kerberos, creating document security for both government and business environments. GSS security features also help businesses fulfill HIPAA compliance rules and regulations as well as assist financial services institutions requiring Kerberos Authentication support.
“Continuing Ricoh’s evolution to exceed our customers’ growing needs, GlobalScan Serverless is designed to simplify the user experience and enhance the process for managing paper digitally,” said Hede Nonaka, senior vice president, Document Solutions & Services Division, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “Ricoh is committed to bringing value to the Capture and Distribution Market and with GlobalScan Serverless we are able to deliver on our unwritten promise.”
GSS provides businesses with several administrative benefits such as the automated delivery of job log tracking reports for cost accounting processes. Furthermore, GSS comes equipped with utilities that allow for remote installation and configuration of the solution with an unlimited number of MFPs. Information Technology (IT) departments can also manage and control multiple devices from one central location. This ensures proper procedures and company rules are being followed throughout the enterprise, thus reducing IT operating expenses and the need for additional servers.
GlobalScan Serverless is now available at the starting suggested retail price of $600 for one unit. The cost per unit varies depending on the number ordered. For more information, please visit www.ricoh-usa.com.
