While at Convergence I was able to take a look at the Ricoh ewriter or equill. I did a patent search on the internet and came up with ewriter.

Goods and Services: Portable electronic device for receiving and reading text, images and sounds through wireless networking; computer hardware and software in the field or text, image and sound transmission and display.

The above paragraph is what I found here (http://www.trademarkia.com/ewriter-85181744.html).

Something else I found trade marked by Ricoh Innovations was ewriter store, here's the link for that (http://www.trademarks411.com/marks/85181733-ewriter-store), there's also been another trademark for equill here's that link (http://www.trademarkia.com/ricoh-equill-85198259.html).

So what I saw was a nifty hand held device that was probably a little smaller than a letter size sheet of paper, yet lightweight and thin. What as shown was the ability to open up a .tiff and maybe a pdf document and display it on the screen. The document shown was a form, and you were able to write data in the forms section (have no idea if you can extract and I doubt it because it would be handwritten), you would then be able to save the form with the information and a signature. The system would then be able to connect to the "cloud" and you would be able to email or upload that document.

At first I thought, dam this would be awesome for orders that I take. However, on the way home today I recalled an insurance guy that wished that there was a device that would allow his reps to fill out insurance apps, forms and collect signatures with out paper. Seems to me like this would be a winner for them and might work with other verticals.

Back to the ewriter store, no mention of the ewriter store was mentioned to me. But, I'm thinking that there must be some connection.

The officalintro for ewriter will be sometime next week from Ricoh.

If anyone else has any additional info or something I missed, please reply to this thread!
