RICOH CORPORATION UNVEILS NEW “TECHNOLOGY PORTAL” SHOWROOM IN SAN FRANCISCO
San Francisco, August 26, 2004 — Ricoh Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, today unveiled its innovative new San Francisco showroom—called “Ricoh’s Technology Portal”—featuring all of Ricoh’s cutting-edge office equipment and software solutions.
Designed as a fully networked business environment, the Technology Portal is located in the Mills Building at 220 Montgomery Street. The Technology Portal depicts typical customer workflow with various Ricoh solutions designed to address everyday requirements through four distinct sections of the showroom floor: Workgroup, Production, Enterprise, and Professional Services.
Offering a glimpse of the new office environment, the Ricoh Technology Portal demonstrates corporate workflow solutions that meet everyday document and printing management needs. Customers can visit the Technology Portal and have a Ricoh consultant analyze their workflow goals and customize a solution for their company. In addition, the showroom features a state-of-the art conference room, with teleconferencing capabilities that can connect engineers with Ricoh’s customers to actually develop solutions on-site.
Participating in the ribbon cutting today is Susumu “Sam” Ichioka, Chairman & CEO of Ricoh Corporation, and Tom Salierno, President Ricoh U.S.
“Ricoh is proud to open a new Technology Portal in San Francisco, the city widely known as the technology capital of the world,” said Mr. Ichioka. “This new Technology Portal, which provides a look into the document management needs of today’s businesses, is designed to enhance the customer experience and allow Ricoh representatives to demonstrate more effectively the power of Ricoh products and solutions.”
Prominently located in the front of the San Francisco showroom is a display that illustrates Ricoh’s unwavering commitment to environmental leadership. Ricoh has been acknowledged by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its pivotal contributions to the success of the Energy Star program and by the World Environmental Center, which awarded Ricoh the Gold Medal for its International Achievement in Sustainable Development. This award is given out annually to a corporation that demonstrates preeminent leadership and contributes to worldwide environmental quality.
Ricoh became the first in the industry to create such a showroom when it launched its original Technology Portal in New York City in December of 2002. In July of 2004, Ricoh opened a second Technology Portal in Chicago. At these portals, Ricoh has hosted over 1500 sales and marketing events connecting with customers and prospects in new and innovative ways.
