Ricoh Corporation And Open Text Align To Integrate Globalscan Into Livelink's Content Management System
West Caldwell, NJ, November 5, 2003 - Ricoh Corporation, the leading
provider of digital office equipment, and Open Text(tm) Corporation,
provider of Livelink, the leading collaboration and content management
software for the global enterprise, announced today that Ricoh's GlobalScan
software platform can now seamlessly integrate with Livelink. The
GlobalScan Plug-in for Livelink provides a complete document capture
solution for processing all paper-based documents. The ease of integrating
these two systems will be demonstrated at LiveLinkUp Orlando 2003, Open
Text's annual users conference underway this week, November 3-6 in Orlando,
Florida.
The GlobalScan Plug-in for Livelink has been designed to allow users to
quickly and efficiently introduce important paper-based documents from a
Ricoh Aficio multifunction product (MFP), into Livelink for storing and
managing along with other business critical content. The Plug-in will allow
users to login to the Livelink platform, directly from the LCD panel on the
MFP, and scan, index and route documents to a specific workplace, folder or
compound document. The LCD panel guides the authorized user through a menu
of services, streamlining the capture and processing of paper-based
documents. Key functionality features supported by the panel include:
* Access to Livelink. Users enter their username and
password, which is authenticated against Livelink's user lists and
dynamically supports user rights.
* Selection lists that allow users to select folders,
workspaces and compound documents.
* Ability to attach a scanned document to an executing
workflow, as well as initiate new workflows.
* Ownership of the document is automatically assigned to the
user authenticated on the MFP to enable tracking and reporting within
Livelink.
Additionally, real-time connection from the GlobalScan Server and Livelink
ensures that the MFP is always current and up to date with the latest
databases, user lists, document categories, and permission.
"Ricoh is pleased to further develop and strengthen our relationship with
Open Text and to provide state-of-the-art document management solutions that
improves the end users' bottom-line," said Hede Nonaka, Vice President of
Marketing for Ricoh Corporation. "Ricoh continues to help companies expand
their application possibilities by providing GlobalScan options that
integrate with leading enterprise content management applications such as
Livelink."
The integration between GlobalScan and Livelink provides many benefits to
the end-user such as, an enhanced business process and information flow,
increased productivity and security, and reduced cost overall.
