Ricoh Corporation And Castelle Integrate Globalscan Into Faxpress And Faxpress Premier

West Caldwell, NJ, December 19, 2003 - Ricoh Corporation, the leading
provider of digital office equipment, and Castelle (Nasdaq: CSTL), a leading
provider of fax solutions for Fortune 1000 companies and small to
medium-sized businesses, announced today that Ricoh's GlobalScan software
platform can now seamlessly integrate with Castelle's FaxPress and FaxPress
Premier network fax servers. This integration provides a complete faxing
solution for all electronic and paper-based documents.

Most desktop fax servers lack the ability to issue paper-based documents.
Through an SMTP Gateway, GlobalScan integrates with Castelle's FaxPress and
FaxPress Premier, providing centralized fax and e-mail management. The
GlobalScan-FaxPress solution eliminates the need for traditional fax
machines in the work environment, which in turn reduces consumables and
service costs while increasing user efficiency.

"The versatility of the GlobalScan software continues to help Ricoh's
partners enhance their applications, directly benefiting the end-user," said
Hede Nonaka, Vice President of Marketing for Ricoh Corporation. "By working
with Castelle to integrate this software, Ricoh hopes to help more users
experience the benefits associated with GlobalScan and FaxPress."

Castelle's FaxPress and FaxPress Premier network fax servers support
workgroups of all sizes, from small offices to enterprise-level
applications. FaxPress is a self-contained hardware and software solution
that allows organizations to easily implement both LAN and Internet faxing.
FaxPress Premier is a patent-pending technology that builds on existing
FaxPress hardware and software features and offers an advanced level of
network fax capabilities including integrated file storage, embedded e-mail
gateways and a secure web interface. Castelle's network fax servers have
earned a well-deserved reputation for ease of installation, use and
administration.

GlobalScan effectively processes, manages and distributes hard copy
documents in electronic form, allowing users to scan documents directly to
network folders eliminating the tedious process of scanning, creating a file
and then saving to the server. Developed in particular for large
organizations, GlobalScan is designed for document-intensive office
environments and easily integrates with existing document distribution
infrastructures to significantly boost workgroup productivity.
