RICOH AMERICAS CORPORATION INTRODUCES ENHANCED VERSION OF SCANROUTER SOFTWARE
ScanRouter EX Integrates with Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server To Improve Digital Scanning Security
West Caldwell, N.J., November 26, 2007 – Ricoh Americas Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, today announced enhancements to its ScanRouterÔ EX software, a digital scanning solution that can convert paper documents and incoming faxes into electronic files and distribute them to various network resources and email addresses. Leveraging a global alliance with Adobe that was announced last year, this upgraded edition of ScanRouter EX integrates with Adobe® LiveCycle® Policy Server to deliver a secure paper-to-digital document solution. LiveCycle Policy Server is now fully supported by Ricoh multifunction products (MFPs) via the ScanRouter EX software.
Solutions for scanning, storing, converting, and managing documents and images are being demanded more and more by customers. Ricoh is focused on developing these advanced solutions that streamline customer workflow and reduce in-house costs, such as ScanRouter. There are two versions of the new ScanRouter EX software: ScanRouter EX Professional and ScanRouter EX Enterprise. ScanRouter EX Professional is based on the core ScanRouter software and includes new options for delivering files, and security features that integrate with the latest Ricoh networked devices and customer’s network authentification systems. ScanRouter EX Enterprise has the same new updates as ScanRouter EX Professional, plus new features such as custom file naming and designated support for up to 100 devices.
ScanRouter EX supports a wide array of devices (i.e. MFPs, network facsimiles and scanners) and no special firmware is needed to implement ScanRouter; the capabilities are built right into the device. With an added new Print Delivery feature, ScanRouter EX can also interact with network printers. In addition, ScanRouter EX now has even more options for file formatting to better fit into customers’ work environments. Searchable PDF, PNG, JPG and TIFF are just a few of the file types supported by ScanRouter EX. With ScanRouter EX, users can send files to a variety of destinations, such as an e-mail, folder, in-tray, FTP server, or network printer. Any of these destination types can be used at the same time to deliver images to multiple destinations in a single scan operation. Furthermore, ScanRouter EX Enterprise enables users to scan directly into MS SharePoint Portal servers or Lotus Notes databases.
The integration of ScanRouter EX and Adobe’s LiveCycle Policy Server allows users to scan documents from Ricoh MFPs, while applying Adobe secure policy protection in order to deter unauthorized access to confidential documents. Users can select the appropriate policy that is managed by the Adobe server directly from the MFP operation panel, guaranteeing the safe transfer of documents based on custom security settings.
By utilizing ScanRouter EX, users can directly apply security features based on individual preferences to protect files and assign viewing rights to approved personnel.
“One of Ricoh’s main goals is providing the most advanced solutions to our customers that address their current needs and provide a viable platform for improving bottom-line results,” said Hede Nonaka, senior vice president, Document Solutions and Services Division, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “Now that Adobe’s LiveCycle Policy Server is completely supported by ScanRouter EX, Ricoh is able to offer customers the most secure digital workflow system available that helps set them apart from the competition.”
