Ricoh Aficio MP 161SPF (Savin 816MF) scanning problem with Vista

Does anyone know if the 161SPF (Savin 816MF) has a problem scanning to a folder in Vista? My customer switched over to a new PC with Vista and now we cannot get it to scan to a folder. Have set the correct IP and have shared out a folder with permissions and still no luck. It just fails from the 816 right away. I have teh path in teh 816 set with the Ip address\\scans where teh scans folder in on the C:\ drive. There is some kind of virus software he uses but it is not flagging anything with pop up warning, I can get the name of it, a company in India belive it or not - could it be stopping the scan function?

In testing anti-virus and firewall issues, you can usually convince the customer to turn it off for a few minutes.

The chance something will happen in the 3 minutes it takes to try a scan job with the software turned off is low, and if your scan work with it turned off, you know what the issue is.

Vista Home editions are not scanner friendly. Try your luck with Vista Business or Ultimate.

Thanks for the helpful info - I have to get back to the customer's office to try again. I hear you have to create a scan folder's password in Vista to share it - it is not an option. Is this correct? If so how would you input the password when you already have to input the main password in Web Image Monitor to scan to folder - there is no place to input two passwords. So maybe you don't have to on the second password but that seems like it defeats the purpose. Anyone?
