Hi @ all,

i'am using a aficio 1224c in an office. printing over tcp/ip is no problem.

But nearly everything else. Sending a scan per mail over smtp gets no contact to the smtp server and has a dns error. And i don't know, how i can make the scanned documents in the ricoh popular for the users. The unit is cableconnected to a wlan router and has an own fixed ip adress. The router is the dhcp server and shares the ip adresses to the by wlan conntected laptops (winxp).

With ScanRouter and DeskTopBinder i get no connection to the unit.

The software is not able to find the hardware in the network.

What goes wrong in my system ?

greetz and thanx for help,
alex

Not sure if this would help, but:

Since SP2 was released, it is necessary to put a port exception into windows firewall (TCP and UDP 3670) for ScanRouter to work. It may be as simple as that if you haven't done so, do thist first and test.

Second, I'd try to get in contact with the person who set up the network. If they have a WAN, they probably have someone who knows more about their set up than I will ever know.

I would connect the copier to a laptop with a crossover cable or install a switch and get it off of their network.

I'd give the copier and the laptop static IPs and make sure they can communicate.

I would then set up scan router on the laptop and make sure to add the copier as an I/O device and set up scan router as normal.

Once I was able to get the unit to work with the laptop, I'd explain to the customer that their is something on their network that is interferring with transmission and that I would be happy to work with their IT staff to get it resolved. I always try to keep in mind that it's not my job to fix their network.

Prove to them that your product will work and when you have to dig in to why it doesn't work with their network if possible work with their IT (also if you can, make sure you let them know that because it is not a hardware problem your network support will be billable).
