Ricoh 6513 and banding

I have a question here for you color specialists and color techs.
What causes vertical banding on a 6513?
I have a client who is having this issue, especially when they are running large solid areas.
This is a new problem and did not occur for the last two years.
They are a Mac environment and I wonder if the 3131 would be an ideal replacement should we not be able to fix this issue.

There are several bulletins on this issue. I would start at the development units and gears, then move on to the drive system of both the drum, and transfer belt. The latest isuue has been the drum grounding bearings in the drum shaft holder being no good. Those are the items that we hvae seen cause excessive banding. They will never go away, you can try to minimize them with the above mentioned, and it usually more noticable on certain colors.
