I have a client with several machines including a 3800CMF. They print to the CMF from both PCs and Macs. The CMF is doing fine except for when they print from Quark - the colors are way off. They print to a AP204 from Quark & everything is fine. Does anyone have any recommendations for settings etc. that could improve things? Thanks in advance...

This probably doesn't make any sense but when I have problems with colors and quality using Quark I make a pdf out of the file then print it. When I do this the colors and quality look great. You might give it a try.

I appreciate the tip but it doesn't seem to work in this case. In fact, we first discovered the problem printing from a pdf... ultimately, after other pdfs printed fine, we found that the original source file was from quark. That's when we found the Quark issues.

Quark is a high end graphics production program geared towards an 8 bit print engine. There is a good possibility that the 3800 just can't generate the colors from what Quark is sending it. Since it is a 2 bit engine, it really is not a good printer to have in an application that uses Quark. If you do print to PDF first then print as a post script file that may help. Another thing. Is this a question of Quark on a Mac or PC? If you are using a PC, use PS printing rather than PCL or RPCS. If it is a MAC then that question is moot. There really is no way that I have found or heard to get good quality publishing or color matching results out of the 3800. This printer is geared towards office color so when you try to push it to do something other than that, like quark it doesn't like it.
Hope that helps
