Below is information about printing Autocad sets that I thought might be helpful to others. It was for me!
Printing sets with either the DWG Option OR AutoCAD License installed at the Controller:
"IF they (customer) build a set with PCWIN and insert a DWG file and send the job to Plotbase the Autocad or Libcad (DWG Option) at the "SERVER" will do the processing." Never does the remote workstation's Autocad do any processing of a DWG file unless they are plotting directly from Autocad using the Winprint or the HDI driver.
Printing Sets out of AutoCAD:
IF they want to generate sets from their desktop out of AutoCAD, they can do this by setting the HDI driver custom properties to “create set from PCWIN”
and have PCWIN loaded at that workstation. PCWIN will launch at the desktop and the DWG files (converted to PLT files) will drop into PCWIN. From PCWIN, they will indicate the number of sets they need and send job to print. All processing is done at desktop when printing sets this way.
